Lip Care Favourites

Tuesday, 3 October 2017

So we're officially in October (yaaaaay!) and as much as I love the crisp mornings, oversized scarves and endless cups of hot chocolate, it does mean dry lip/skin/soul season is upon us. For me it seems to be my lips that are most effected, just the slight hint of wind seems to make them want to shrivel up and flake off. Being such a lipstick lover means keeping my lips flake free and hydrated is vital especially during the cooler months.

For me the key is exfoliating, a good lip scrub can change your life (or lips, but you get me). My current favourite is the MAC Lip Scrubtious in Fruit of Passion. With this I like to apply it, leave it for a couple of minutes and then wipe it off. It leaves my lips feeling soft and hydrated even after I've taken it off. When I want a more intense exfoliation I'll go for the budget friendly ELF Lip Exfoliator*. It's a lot more gritty so it really works to shift any dry patches but it's still comfortable to use.

After scrubs comes the balms and I currently switch it up between two. The first is the Lucus Paw Paw Ointment aka Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream at a fraction of the price which I actually prefer + it doesn't smell as bad! It's one of those products you can use for loads of different things like lips, dry patches of skin, cuticles, minor cuts or grazes and even taming brows so it's always one to have in your beauty stash.

The more luxe option that leaves me feeling a little more glam even in my alien pj's, spot cream and messy bun is the Nuxe Reve de Miel. It's a much thicker balm that doesn't leave you with that sticky balm feeling, it feels almost matte on the lips whilst still hydrating. I like to apply this just before I go to bed and I wake up with soft and hydrated lips. A little goes a long way and I feel like it may actually be a never ending jar of magic.

  1. The ELF lip exfoliator looks amazing, I have the lip scrub from LUSH but I feel like sometimes it can get messy.

    Perfect Shade of Mauve

  2. I am going to have to try some of these things out, my lips always suffer when it gets to this time of the year!
