Blogoween Look #1 | The Girl Who Cried Blood

Sunday, 11 October 2015

Halloween is my second favourite time of the year (Christmas has to be number one, obviously). When stores start getting Halloween decorations in I'm like a crazy lady buying as many of the gimmicky over priced yet incredibly cute decorations as I acceptably can. Being someone who does special effects makeup, I love that I can create as many gory and creepy looks as I possibly can. I actually have clients booked for a Halloween party, I can't wait to gore people up!

Being such a lover of Halloween, I thought I'd devote some blog posts to focus on Halloween... Introducing Blogoween, a series in which I'll be sharing anything Halloween related such as makeup and special effects looks, nail art ideas, baking etc. I'll be sharing a couple of posts each week on the build up to Halloween, but understandably not everyones a fan of Halloween so regular beauty and lifestyle posts will also continue.

Todays look is actually fairly easy to achieve and doesn't require using any special effects products other than some fake blood which you can easily pick up from many stores this time of year. I wanted to create something purple to match my wig, but something that wasn't too gory and creepy (like my usual looks). I thought I'd get the Urban Decay Electric Palette out to play with as I haven't used it in a while, and the vibrancy of the bright colours was just what I needed.

If you're looking to create similar eye makeup, I thought I'd give a little brief description on what colours I used where. After priming my lids with the Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Wheat, I went over with the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk to really make the colours pop. I took Urban Decay Jilted and Urban through the crease, then MAC Deep Damson and Anastasia Beverly Hills Noir to darken the outer corner. I blended the colour up onto my brow bone using MAC Pink Freeze. On my lid I used Urban Decay Freak and bought it into my inner corner. On top of the inner corner colour, I put a small amount of Urban Decay Thrash to give it that yellow vibe. On my lower lashes I used Urban Decay Urban and blended it out with Jilted. I then continued with the liner, mascara and lashes.

Here is a list of all the products I used to create this look...

L'Oreal Skin Perfection Magic Touch Instant Blur
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (1N2 Ecru)
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (NW15)
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

  1. Love this, I love doing this look for Halloween, really simple but effective! I use a combination of red lip tint and fake blood. x
