My Top 5 Summer Lipsticks 2014

Thursday, 17 July 2014

As it's summer here in the UK I thought I'd share my top 5 summer lipsticks with you. I'm such a lover of bright lipstick that when the suns out the nude shades go into hiding. I do have blue hair so I have to watch what colours I'm wearing as I've found certain colours that really don't work with it. But these are my top 5 that I reach for most- and are blue hair safe!..

1. MAC Impassioned-

This is one of my favourite MAC lipsticks, I fell in love as soon as I brought it. It's described as an amped up fuchsia, but I'd describe it as more of a bright pink-red with a hint of coral. It's a fairly creamy formula and gives opaque coverage. I like that it leaves a stain on the lips as it begins to fade. This is my go to bright lipstick.

2. MAC Candy Yum Yum-

This lipstick also had to make it in my top 5, it's such a cult classic in bright lipsticks. Candy Yum Yum is a blue based neon pink. This really isn't for those who don't like to stand out, it's super bright and I think that's why I love it even more. I'm not one to blend in with the crowd. I like that it's a matte finish so lasts ages then leaves a strong stain as it fades.

3. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in 910 Shocking Coral-

This is the most affordable out of all my picks, and the name pretty much gives the colour away. It's a real bright coral, and applies super creamy without sinking into lines or emphasising dry patches. I love wearing this with winged liner and lots of mascara.

4. YSL Rouge Volupte in 29 Rose Opera-

Out of all the lipsticks this is the most wearable, Rose Opera is a light-medium rose pink. It's one of the most expensive lipstick I own, but one of my favourites. The Rouge Voluptes are one of my favourite formula of lipsticks, I just wish they lasted longer on the lips.

5. Lime Crime Great Pink Planet-

Lime Crime is well known for their unusual colours as well as the holographic unicorn on the bullet. I own a few Lime Crime lipsticks and this is one of my favourites. Great Pink Planet is a wearable baby pink with a slight hint of violet in. The formula again is really creamy- I seem to have a thing for creamy lipsticks which is noticeable in this post!

What lipsticks are you loving this summer?
