Horror films

Sunday, 24 February 2013

I'm sure most of my readers know, I am a huge horror film addict. Me and my boyfriend Harry are always watching them (I'm too scared to watch them alone, haha) but I really do love them, I guess I must get it from my dad as my mum hates them.

The picture above is my horror film collection, I know there's not many there but I recently sold most of the ones I had. I don't know the reason behind this post I suppose I wanted to do a different type of post.

The ones like Teeth and Human Centipede 2 are just plain wierd, Human Centipede 2 actually made me feel physically sick I actually had to take an anti sickness pill it was that bad! It's so messed up I don't know why I carried on watching it I just wanted to see the end haha, but I wouldn't recommend that unless you can handle proper gore and the twisted plot behind it. Teeth was more of a comedy than a horror for me, it has a random yet funny story line behind it which I'm not going to post on here, but Google it if you fancy a laugh.

So here's my top 3 horror films:

Quarantine 2: Terminal-

A plane is taken over by a mysterious virus. When the plane lands it is placed under quarantine. Now a group of survivors must band together to survive the quarantine. (taken from IMBd.com)

I love this film mainly because it has a plane in it, which I'm sure you all know I'm obsessed with planes, but it actually has a really great story line, it helps if you've watched Quarantine 1 first if not it may be a bit confusing. I didn't find it jumpy or scary but it's still a really good. 8/10 from me.

A true-crime writer finds a cache of 8mm "snuff" films that suggest the murder he is currently researching is the work of a serial killer whose career dates back to the 1960s. (taken from IMBd.com)

I only watched this film a few days ago but it's by far my favorite film I've seen in ages, in fact it's probably my favorite horror film. The story line is brilliant, I was so drawn into it, I was almost talking to the TV telling the characters what to do haha! But if you're only going to watch one of these films this is the one! For me it was jumpy and I did scream a couple of times, poor Harry's ears, but I still loved it! 10/10 from me.

Apartment 143-

A team of parapsychologists try to figure out a strange phenomenon occurring in an apartment building. (taken from IMBd.com)

I also only saw this a few days ago and I loved it, it really had me drawn into it and I almost felt as if I was really there, it didn't have bad special effects (like Mama, that was aweful! not in a scary way, in a wow that really was crap can I have a refund way) but I recommend that, I think it was only around £5 so I couldn't say no. I give it 9/10.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I didn't want to give too much away in case you want to see the films yourself.

Do you like horror films?

What are any you recommend ?

  1. Sinister was one of my faves too! I agree the human centipede was disgusting .. I won't be rewatching tht one!

  2. The human centipede is so messed up, I don't know what made the producers write such a film! I think teeth is so funny! It's crazy hahaha! I liked reading this

  3. Horror films are my favourite too I rather old horrors over the new releases, although quite a few you have i really enjoyed! The old films i would recommend are: all the omen's and the 2006 remake, the shining, the changeling(brilliant you have to watch it! its nothing like the new film which has the same title), misery, poltergeist & the lady in white :)! I Enjoyed reading your post I am going to watch a couple I haven't seen:) xo

  4. Quarantine is the American version of the spanish horror, I've seen both and REC is about 20x more scary, you should really watch it but you have to have subtitles, trust me its worth it! xx
