Wow Samm, you’ve actually remembered to share a monthly favourites post before you’re half way through the following month… it’s a miracle! Okay so I know I’m the worst at sharing monthly favourites but 1. it’s usually too late to share it by the time I’ve remembered to take the photos and write the post or 2. I just don’t have enough super ‘wow omg how did I live without you products’ to mention, August was however different and I remembered to share a post about them!! These are the products that I’ve loved throughout August…
Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow
Holy grail forever – my love for this is next level! During the warmer months I find myself reaching for lighter bases on days that I want a bit of coverage without the heavy feeling of a foundation. I was on the look out for a new BB cream when I saw Charlotte Tilbury had released this, and if it’s CT I obviously need it in my life asap. Unisex Healthy Glow is a tinted moisturiser that comes out a greyish white colour but as you blend it into the skin it begins to adapt to your skintone whilst adding a subtle bronze hue to the skin, it really is magic.
The coverage is buildable and it really does add a natural glow to my skin. One layer evens out my skin helping to disguise my redness, then if I want a bit more I’ll go in with a second layer and a tiny bit of concealer on my acne scarring or any blemishes if I need to. It sits really well on my combination skin and it feels like I’m not wearing anything. The lasting power has really impressed me, I find I can get a whole days (10-12 hours) wear without it fading, but that’s with powder on my t-zone as that’s where I tend to get oily.
Seventeen Skin Wow Concealer
Just like my base, I’ve found myself gravitating more towards lighter concealers to help hide the 50 shades of dark circles under my eyes. This one from Seventeen is the one I use when I’m going for the ‘I woke up like this and actually had a decent nights sleep’ type of look. I like to call it Touche Eclat on steroids. It gives more coverage whilst still feeling light on the skin and it doesn’t look or feel like you’re wearing a heavy concealer.
MAC In Extreme Dimension Mascara in 3D Black
When it comes to mascaras I’m pretty basic, I know the ones I like and I tend to stick to them. Earlier in the summer Estee Lauder released the Beautiful Escape Beauty Box which came with this mascara and I think I may have found my new holy grail. It’s one of those mascaras that does a bit of everything, it’s a true dark black that adds length and volume as well as separating my lashes really well. As someone with super sensitive eyes, I’ve had no issues with this transferring on my eyelids or running down my face every time my eyes water.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Radiant Bronze Light
I picked up this bronzer back when I was in New York and over the past couple of months it’s became a long time favourite. The way this bronzer blends into the skin is heavenly, it adds colour without looking too over the top. I have Radiant Bronze Light which is actually for medium-deep complexions but when I have tan on this works perfectly for me. I’d like to get the lighter colour for when I’m tanless so that’s now on my wishlist!
Barry M Take a Brow Gel
As someone with the worst natural eyebrows in the history of eyebrows I’m left relying on brow products to save me. I started to run out of my usual brow gel so when I was doing my usual Superdrug browse I saw this and I thought I’d give it a try and I’m loving it. It adds colour to my brows and sets them really well. It currently comes in both brown and clear but I hope Barry M add few more colours as it’s a real drugstore gem. You don’t need much product, I go in with a light hand and I’ll often wipe the brush on the edge as I’m taking it out the tube to remove excess product.
Primark Peach Tea
I’m one of those people that can’t leave the house without some form of fragrance in my bag. I normally end up trying to somehow squeeze a 50ml bottle of perfume into my bag, but ever since I discovered these little Primark gems that’s all changed. They’re the perfect handbag size and I wasn’t expecting much for £2 but I’ve been really impressed with the scents and the lasting power. They have loads to choose from and I’ve tried a few but Peach Tea has become my favourite.
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Ever since I’ve started fake tanning I’ve found I’m putting more effort into my body care routine. After hearing so many people rave about this crazily priced yet highly addictive cream, I decided to treat myself. First up, the smell – it’s heavenly. As for the actual product, I love that too but lets just go back to the scent *heart eyed emoji*. I like to apply it to the parts of my body that are more on display such as my arms and chest then just a regular (cheaper) moisturiser to the rest of my body as lets be real this is so pricey it’ll forever be used sparingly!
So goodbye August, goodbye horrifically hot weather and hello cooler months – Autumn, I’m ready for you. What products have you been loving throughout August?
