Did I need more lipsticks? No. Did I buy more lipsticks? Yes, oops. I just can’t resist mattes, and these budget friendly buys from Seventeen come in at only £4.49 each making them totally more justifiable. Matte lipsticks really are all the rage these days and it’s no surprise, they’re known for being more pigmented and longer lasting compared to other formulas which for me makes matte my lipstick formula of choice. The only downside is that they can be drying, meaning that although many brands try to master the formula, some just leave you needing more than just a ridiculously thick layer of lip balm.
The Mega Matte lipsticks are a fairly new release from Seventeen, coming in 12 different shades ranging from nudes to reds and even a lilac, means there’s a colour for everyone no matter what shade you’re looking for. On behalf of makeup lovers I’d like to thank Seventeen for releasing a range with such a variety of shades as I’m sick of seeing drugstore brands release lipstick lines full of similar colours. As much as I love a bright lip, I decided to start with 3 of the more wearable shades that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of, but don’t worry brights – I’m coming back for you.
|Left to right: Nude News, Looking Buff, The Coral Of The Story|
The first colour I picked up was Nude News, a pink toned beige nude. I feel like although I own way too many lipsticks, my collection lacks decent pink toned nudes so this is the perfect addition to my collection. Out of all the shades I tried I feel like this one wasn’t as pigmented as the other two but that’s often the problem with nude shades. It still has a good amount of pigmentation and it’s wearable alone but when paired with a matching lip liner that’as when this colour really pops. It’s such a beautiful nude that I’ve been getting lots of wear out of.
The next colour I picked up was a typical Samm shade called Looking Buff, an everyday wearable warm toned brown with a hint of pink. Honestly I could happily live in this colour, it’s so beautiful. It’s one of those shades that you can wear no matter what time of the year it is knowing your lips are on trend. I can see this being one of the most popular out of the line as it’s a fairly universal colour looking great on an array of different skin tones.
The last colour I picked up was The Coral Of The Story, a pinky coral that instantly stood out to me on the counter, I knew this beauty had to be mine. As we’re in Summer this has actually been the shade I’ve worn the most and I’ve found myself reaching for it almost daily. It’s the type of colour that no matter how little makeup you’re wearing this will steal the show and make it look as if you got out of bed with more than 5 minutes to spare. I absolutely adore this colour.
As for the formula and lasting power, whilst they’re matte they’re not overly matte making them really comfortable to wear without feeling dry or flakey throughout the day. The lasting power was really good, especially on Looking Buff and The Coral Of The Story as they left a stain to the lips which I really liked as I didn’t have to worry about them fading too much.
Overall I’m really impressed with these. I think they’re an absolute bargain and I can see these being popular. Have you tried them yet?
