You know when you walk into Boots just to pick up one item and somehow end up leaving with a bag full of products that you didn’t necessarily need? Well that was todays situation. To attempt to justify it it’s been a while since I went on a drugstore splurge and there was just so many pretty products that I couldn’t say no to, and with the release of a few new Spring collections I was in my element swatching away for a lot longer than I should have been – I left with a rather colourful hand covered in swatches!
Starting of with concealers, and it’s only whilst writing this post that I’ve realised I actually bought 5. FIVE. I know that’s a bit obsessive but I’m always on the hunt for my new holy grail.
Up first is the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer which was the only product I’d originally gone into Boots to buy! I remember this used to be one of my favourites years ago, and I guess as I’ve tried new ones my love for this got replaced so I’m looking forward to giving it a try again. When I saw the product on the Rimmel stand some shades had this packaging and others had to original so perhaps Rimmel are changing the packaging? Either way I really like the added pop of colour.
My love for pen style concealers has been spoken about plenty of times on my blog so it’s no surprise this newly released one from Seventeen ended up in my basket. I gave it a try this morning and I’m so impressed, it has a bit more coverage than my beloved YSL Touche Eclat but still blends beautifully into the skin, look out for a full review once I’ve tried it some more!
I feel like this is the concealer of all drugstore concealers, it has such a big hype surrounding it and whilst I’ve tried it a few times before it’s never one I remember thinking “omg I love you, thank you for perfecting my face”, it’s been a long time since I’ve tried it so I thought it was about time I tried it again.
I’ve seen a few of my favourite bloggers rave about this concealer recently so when I walked past the Bourjois stand and saw it was 3 for 2 I made the most of the offer and decided to give this concealer a try… as if I actually needed anymore (lol).
Now last but not least in the concealer section was this little pot from Seventeen. Whilst cream concealers aren’t my usual choice, I thought it would be worth giving this a try to see how it compares to the only cream concealer I occasionally use, the MAC Studio Finish Concealer plus I have heard a lot of rave reviews about this one.
Real Techniques are one my favourite brands for makeup brushes and they’ve recently repackaged their brushes and changed the colour of the handles, which I really like. When I saw the sculpting brush, I thought it was one I didn’t own but when I got home I saw that I do in fact already own it but it’s pretty old and messy hence why I didn’t recognise it but I’m glad I’ve got a new one.
Rimmel HD 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Pinkadilly Circus
When it comes to drugstore eyeshadows, I don’t actually own that many but something about this one from Rimmel really caught my eye and practically jumped into my basket. Of course it was that central pinky/purple shade that had my name all over it, but the other four shades are ones that I can see myself getting a lot of use out of – plus Rimmel was buy one get one half price and I’d already picked up the concealer so I had to make the most out of that offer!
Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadows in Brun Dadaiste and Rose Fauviste
And finally we have these shadow sticks from Bourjois, which I surprisingly haven’t tried before. Crayon style shadows are my favourites, I love how quick and easy they are to use! I’ve tried options from various different brands from drugstore to high end so I’m looking forward to giving these a try.
So that’s everything I picked up, I can’t wait to start trying everything and I’m sure you’ll hear about them all in separate posts soon!
