So whilst we’re only on the second official day of Spring I thought I’d get a bit ahead of myself and share my current everyday base with you – the Spring part just looked nicer on the end of the title as lets be real the weather in England isn’t exactly very Spring like at the moment! When the Spring time (eventually) comes I do like to switch up my base routine for more lightweight effortless yet long lasting products that leave my skin looking like skin and this combination of products has been perfect for that.
To start off with I like to prime my skin using the Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Primer. Whilst some people totally skip priming because they don’t find it does anything, I think it’s all about finding the right primer that works with your skin and the products you apply afterwards, and this one from Soap & Glory has become one of my all time favourites. After I’ve applied that I like to use the Soap & Glory Kiss Ass All Is Calm Anti Redness Concealer to correct any areas of redness I may have such as around my nose and on my acne scarring, thanks teenage years for that.
Now for foundation, and after years of trying various different ones from an array of different brands I think I’ve finally found the perfect foundation…this is not a drill, I never thought I’d say the words either! The star of the show I’m talking about is the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick in R230 which I caved in and ordered after hearing so many great things about. At first I was put off buying it as stick foundations aren’t usually my thing, they’re known for providing a lot of coverage in a thick formula making them not exactly ideal for everyday wear, but somehow MUFE have ticked all the boxes with this one. It provides coverage without looking like you’re wearing a mask, it sits so beautifully on the skin and it lasts all day.
After foundation I’ll go in with concealer. To conceal the 50 shades of dark circles under my eyes I like to use the Urban Decay Naked Skin Conealer in Fair Neutral which I set with the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder. I’m often switching up the products I use under my eyes but this is the combination I’ve been loving lately. As for any areas I feel like I need more coverage (especially if my skins playing up!) then I’ll use the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX2. To set the rest of my face I like to use Rimmel Stay Matte, I went off the powder for a while but since reupurchasing it I’ve fallen back in love with it. To finish off I like to drown my face in a rivers worth of MAC Fix+ and then ta dah, my base is complete and I’m a little less ‘back from the dead’ looking.
So that’s the everyday base that I’ve been wearing lately. Whilst it may seem like a lot of steps and products it’s worth sacrificing those extra minutes in bed so I look a bit more presentable than usual!
