A Look Inside My IKEA Malm Dressing Table

Lets be real, we all love having a good peak into others makeup collections, they happen to be one of my favourite posts to read and videos to watch and often end up giving me serious makeup collection envy! Today I thought I’d share a little look into my trusty Malm Dressing Table that houses a majority of my ever growing makeup collection.

The Malm Dressing Table (£95) is a simple white dressing table with the pull out drawer that makes it perfect for makeup storage. It does come with a glass top but I keep mine off as glass is an absolute nightmare for makeup, it was forever covered in smudges and needed cleaning so I gave up. I personally prefer the matte white look anyway, and of course the fact is doesn’t need cleaning 24/7 now!

The only fault I do have is that the drawer doesn’t fully open, but there is a hack you can do to make it open more but lets be real I’m lazy and DIY isn’t my thing, I’d only end up destroying the poor desk. I’m sure if you Google it it’ll tell you how to do it.

Starting off with the left side of the drawer, this is where I keep the random yet necessary items such as sponges, sharpeners, lip balms, lip scrub, lash glue etc. Next to them I have my beloved cream eyeshadows and then at the back I have more random products that don’t really get used or don’t fit anywhere else. I keep a majority of the makeup in these ever so glamorous plastic containers that I picked up in Tesco, whilst they’re not exactly the most fabulous they fit in the drawer well were super cheap.

Next up is the more interesting part where the makeup begins. The pot on the left is where I store my mascaras, eye primers, brow gels and lash curlers. The next pot is full of all types of eyeliners from pencils to liquids and gels. I also keep my stick eye shadows in there, it’s basically home to anything eye related. Then I keep my most used foundation, primers and concealers in the pot on the right. Although I store most of my base products in my Muji Drawers, I like to keep the ones I reach for daily in here as it just makes them easier to reach for in the morning when I’m still half asleep.

Lastly is my favourite part of the drawer, which may look a bit of a mess but I promise it’s organised mess! I actually keep everything in a metal cutlery tray which I picked up in Homebase, it fits into the drawer perfectly and makes great blush storage as I can stand them up. In the very back row (the one you can’t really see) is where I store products I don’t use and need to find a new home for.

I’ve then got my row of most used blushes, bronzers and highlighters. I store most of them in my Alex 9 Drawers but the ones I love the most get to live in this drawer. In the bottom row I keep my lip liners, brows pencils and my everyday eyeliners then a few of my most used quads/mini palettes. Down the side I have more primers and extra blushes.

So that’s everything I keep in my dressing table, I’ll get round to posting a full updated makeup collection soon!

How do you store your makeup?
