MAC x Ellie Goulding I’ll Hold My Breathe Blush Duo Review + Swatches

MAC x Ellie Goulding I’ll Hold My Breathe Blush Duo

MAC always seem to draw me in with the limited edition collections and this Ellie Goulding collab was no exception. When I first saw previews of this collection I loved how wearable everything was, as much as I love me some bright colours, it’s nice to see a collection of really wearable shades for everyday wear.

When I got the email saying the collection had been released, I was on the bus so it was rather hectic trying to get onto the site to order this without losing internet! As much as I wanted to order pretty much everything, I had to have some self control so I just ordered the one thing *gasp*. I thought the collection would sell out fast, but as this posts goes up everything’s still available which is a surprise considering it’s been out for a few days now!

Starting off with the packaging, I love how simple yet beautiful it is. It’s shiny patent black with the rose gold logo that seems a bit Chanel/Gucci- esque to me, which I love. I’m so glad MAC put this in limited edition packaging as when I’m buying (and paying the extra money!) for a LE product I like the packaging to be different so I can easily tell which product it is amongst my collection. The packaging doesn’t feel cheap, it feels rather luxurious and it also comes with a handy mirror inside which is always a bonus, especially if you’re travelling or on the go.

As for the actual product, the duo contains both a bronzer and a blush which again is super handy for travelling. The bronzer is a medium warm shade with hints of shimmer in the pan but they don’t transfer onto the face. At first I was worried as this leans more on the yellow side, but after applying it it’s such a beautiful bronzing shade that works really well at warming up the complexion. The powder is firmer than the blush which I like as it’s easy to pick up the right amount of product without going OTT on bronzer.

The blush is a lovely satin medium pinky coral. It’s more on the powdery side so it’s easy to go a bit overboard with and you only need a little bit on your brush – I made the mistake of going a little bit blush heavy this morning, but I was able to blend it out easily. It’s a really pretty everyday wearable shade that adds that flush of colour to your cheeks, I know I’m going to get a lot of wear out of this shade.

Overall I’m really impressed with this duo, and I love how wearable the colours are. The quality is really impressive and the packaging has won me over, I’m trying to resist ordering a lipstick (or 2) now! I think this is such a beautiful collection, well done MAC and Ellie Goulding!
