Drugstore Gems | My Favourite Drugstore Products

Walking into a Boots or Superdrug can be fairly overwhelming, with such a variety of products on offer at a much more affordable price compared to highend brands can mean you often leave with a products or 3 (3 for 2 always seems to get me!). With so many products on offer means that there’s going to be hits and misses, and over the years of trying various drugstore products I thought I’d share my favourites with you all…

Soap & Glory Hocus Focus Flaw Softening Illuminator – £11

This primer was a random purchase, I’d never heard of it before but it was 3 for 2 so I decided to give it a try – the fact it had “flaw softening” in the name sold it to me instantly! This is a really lovely primer, it works well under makeup to add some glow to the skin as well as prolonging the wear of my makeup, but my favourite way to use this is to mix it into my foundation. It adds such a beautiful glow, and it does soften the appearance of my skin. It’s very similar to MAC Strobe Cream but at a fraction of the price.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation – £9.99

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now you’re probably sick of hearing me rave about this foundation, but how could I not mention it in this post?! Bourjois Healthy Mix is one of my all time favourite foundations and the fact it’s from the drugstore is a massive bonus. It’s my go to for everyday wear, it provides a lovely medium coverage, feels really light on the skin, doesn’t cake or emphasise dry patches and lasts all day on me.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer – £8.49

Although this concealer only recently came into my life, I can’t be without it! I recently spoke about my love for it and how it’s a dupe for the YSL Touche Eclat. For me it’s the perfect under eye highlighter, I use it either alone or over the top of my concealer when I’m going for a full face of makeup. I’m so glad I came across this product, it’s a staple in my collection now!

Collection Contour Kit – £4.19

I’ve always felt the drugstore lacked in good contour products, so when I saw the release of this one from Collection earlier this year I had to give it a try. I really love this and I think it’s the perfect drugstore option as it’s so affordable yet natural and doesn’t turn your face into a muddy/orange mess. Both shades have lovely pigmentation and the highlighter is just so natural and gives a beautiful wearable glow.

Sleek Solstice Highlighter Palette – £9.99

This palette is an absolute must have! It contains 4 different highlighting shades with 3 being powder and 1 being cream so you’ve got a nice array of options. Each shade is so soft and pigmented and they just glide onto the skin perfectly. I love that you have 4 different colours to choose from and they’re all wearable. This is probably my all time favourite drugstore product.

Maybelline Color Tattoo – £4.99

The Color Tattoos are well raved about in the beauty community and they deserve all the hype they get! They’re cream shadows that work well when worn alone or as a base under eyeshadows. I always used to use MAC Paint Pots, but since the Color Tattoos came into my life I’ve used them instead ever since. They’re very comparable to Paint Pots, and they’re a steal coming in at under £5.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – £7.99

This mascara is life! I’ve tried so many mascaras, but nothing will ever compare to this. I use it on a daily basis and it helps make my stubby little lashes look nicer without clumping or transferring on my overly watery eyes giving them that sexy panda look. I’ve tried mascaras costing £2 and some costing £30+ but this will always be the one I come back to.

L’Oreal Color Riche Mono Eyeshadow – £5.49

These L’Oreal shadows really are something special. The texture is lovely, they feel like both a powder and a cream and feel more like a pressed pigment than a shadow to me. They’re pigmented, easy to apply, long lasting and buttery soft. My favourites and the two I have pictured are Nude (a cream with gold shimmer) and Smoky (a reddish plum, very similar to MAC Cranberry).

Collection Deluxe Lipstick in Talullah – £3.99

As much as I love my MAC and YSL lipsticks, I feel that the drugstore has some really nice ones to offer and it’s a product a lot of the brands do well. One of my favourites (and trust me it was hard to pick!) is this one from Collection. It’s a really pretty muted pink that’s really similar to Chatterbox from MAC. It has a really creamy and moisturising yet long wearing formula that’s just so easy to wear, I really love this lipstick.

So those are all my drugstore favourites, what’s yours? Give me some recommendations!
