A Little Makeup Geek Haul + Swatches

Today the parcel I've been waiting for all week finally arrived, I now have some Makeup Geek shadows in my life and I feel somewhat more complete. I've wanted to try some Makeup Geek shadows for what feels like forever now. Every time I saw someone using them in tutorials I just wanted them to bless my eyelids, but with them being an American brand and me being in the UK means annoying custom and import fees- a makeup lovers nightmare! When I saw that UK based BeautyBay started stocking them and then put them on offer on black friday, it was basically fate so I finally caved in and ordered some.

Deciding which shades to go for was the hardest part! After spending about an hour looking up different swatches and reviews on Google, I went for 3 foiled shadows - I could have easy bought about 10 more but I had to have some kind of self control! I love the packaging of the foiled shadows as well, although they only end up in the bin I just think it's a nice touch and for me draws my eye to them even more.

When I opened these shadows, it was love at first swatch. The swatches below are on my arm with no primer under, you can see how pigmented they really are, these beauties pack a seriously pigmented punch! They're so smooth, metallic and shiny that I basically want to cover my whole face with them. Luckily when the parcel had arrived I hadn't done my makeup yet (lazy sundays are the best) so I got to give these a try. Let's just say my eyeshadow game has gone to a whole new level!

The 3 colours I got are Flame Thrower (a warm copper), Grandstand (a rose gold) and In The Spotlight (a pinky peach). I wore In The Spotlight on the lid, Grandstand on the outer third and Flame Thrower on my lower lashes paired with strong winged liner... the combination was perfect! I have hooded eyes with very little lid room so I find shadows transfer like a nightmare on me, especially if they're shimmery/metallic (#hoodedeyeproblems) but I've found this hasn't been a major issue for me, obviously with the slight transfer but nothing that bothered me. As for storing them, most people use z palettes but I own a z palette and I really don't like them so I've put mine in my MAC palette.

I can't possibly praise these shadows enough, I absolutely love them! I've decided I now need the rest of the colours in my life, this is just the beginning of a new found addiction.

Have you tried any Makeup Geek shadows before?
