It’s gone 7am, you’ve snoozed all your alarms and now you realise you’re going to be late. No it’s not a nightmare, you’re just willing to wear less makeup for those vital extra minutes in bed. Once reality sets in and you realise you really do need to get up, if you’re like me then makeup is a must before leaving the house so it’s important to fit it into the mental schedule you’ve made for the following
20 10 minutes.
Now this look doubles up as my “oh god I’m really in a hurry” look, as well as my “lazy day mooching round the house but I’ve got to look somewhat presentable as I’ll probably have deliveries arrive” look. Of course if I really didn’t have any time then I’d cut it down to just concealer and a bit of mascara, but I’ve mastered the art of speedy makeup and can complete this whole look in around 5 minutes – I just really do love to sleep.
Starting off with the face. Now skincare is a vital step before makeup application for me, so as I don’t have much time my moisturiser is going to double up as a primer today. To help even out my complexion and cover my rather awful looking skin I just go in with some Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and apply it with my Beauty Blender. To cover up my dark circles I’ll sweep some L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer under my eyes and blend that in using my trusty Beauty Blender again.
As for cheeks, if I have the time I’ll use a highlighter, blush and a bit of bronzer from my beloved Urban Decay Naked Flushed in Native. If time really isn’t on my side, I still like to add a little bit of blush to my cheeks to add that little pop of colour and bring back some dimension into my face.
For eyes I like to keep it really simple. I simply sweep some of my By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock over my eyelids, blend it out slightly using my finger or MAC 217 brush if I have the time (finger tends to win) and then pop on some of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – my all time fave. The thing I love about the Ombre Blackstar is that I don’t have to set it with a powder shadow as it lasts all day without creasing or fading. Although it’s on the very pricey side, it really is worth every penny.
Onto brows, I usually like to use my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, but lets be real I haven’t got time to be faffing round with gels and brushes, so brow pencil it is! My current favourite is the Soap & Glory Brow Archery Pencil which is really easy to use and has a handy spoolie on the end to brush through and shape my brows.
When it comes to lips, my brains still half asleep so I’m not even going to attempt to put on a colourful lipstick or else I’ll end up looking like a clown. My favourite thing to use is either a ‘my lips but better’ lipstick (MAC Brave is the holy one) or an easy to wear tinted lip balm like the Benefit Lollibalm or Benebalm.
To finish it off I practically drown my face in MAC Fix+ and voila, we’re done. Did I manage to do all that in 5 minutes? Maybe, that’s if I didn’t take 5 million coffee breaks with a slice of toast in the other hand!
