Brows really are the in thing now. If you follow many beauty gurus on social media, I'm sure you've been hit with serious brow envy numerous times on the casual scroll through Instagram, and ended up just staring at the screen like "why can't I have her eyebrows?". It seems like the days of lusting over super thin overly plucked brows are long gone, with the spot light on the thick, full and natural "brows on fleek" type of brow.
Having alopecia and a sexy chickenpox scar in the beginning of my left eyebrow means I'm not blessed with the best natural brows so I have to rely on various products to help me look more human - without looking too overly done and unnatural! Over the years I've tried various different powders, gels and pencils to help me prefect my brow game, and thankfully through trial and error I've finally come across a routine that works for me.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Taupe
Anastasia Beverly Hills is know for owning the brow game, so I put my faith in her with this very hyped about product, lets just say it didn't disappoint. The Dipbrow is the first product I use to fill in and shape my brows. The key with this is to approach it with caution, you only need a small amount and a light hand. I take a small amount onto my brush and then wipe the brush on the back of my hand to warm up the product and spread it evenly throughout the brush. I'll admit when I first used this I went in a bit heavy handed and ended up looking like I'd lost a fight with a sharpie, so it takes some experimenting to find what works best for you. When used correctly, the Dipbrow really works at shaping and filling in the brows beautifully. This stuff also lasts all day still looking as if you've only just applied it, brow must have for me!
Anastasia Beverly Hills #12 Large Synthetic Duo Brush
This is the brush I use to apply the Dipbrow, and it's the best brush I've found to work with it. The angled synthetic brush picks up a good amount of product and applies it really smooth and evenly. It also has a spoolie on the end to brush through the brows before and after applying the Dipbrow.
MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set in Emphatically Blonde
I've always been hit or miss with brow gels, I think that's because I've had numerous past experiences with brows that feel like I've set them with cement. I'd never heard anything about this brow gel, and it was one of those spontaneous "that looks nice, plus it takes my order over the minimum spend for free delivery" type of purchases. Now I have this gel in my life, my brow life is complete. It sets my brows perfectly and they stay in place all day without the cement feeling. Being tinted it also adds some colour to the hair, makes the brows appear thicker and the wand is small enough to be able to get every hair without making a mess.
MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in Radiant Rose
This is what I use to go around my eyebrows to carve and tidy them up. This twist up highlighter pen has the brush already on the top (think YSL Touche Eclat style) so it makes it a lot easier and quicker to apply. I apply it directly around my brow and then use a brush to blend it out into my foundation. Being a highlighter it highlights around the brows as well as neatly tidying them up, lets just say... brow game strong!
