If you follow me on social media, you’d probably have seen that yesterday I went into London for a hospital appointment, and ended up having a rather disastrous day! On the way home I started feeling really ill, and then passed out. I have autonomic dysfunction so passing out is regular for me, but on a train when I need to get off – not ideal! My mum, brother and sister were with me and looked after me but I just kept passing in an out of consciousness the whole 50 minute train journey home. We ended up missing our stop because I was unconscious and although mum had warned the ticket guy, we ended up about an hour away from our house. It was a stressful time for my poor family, but once I had come around they got me off the train and my dad came to pick us up. Let’s just say it was so good to finally be home, even if it was hours after we should have been!
Before all that happened I did do a
little bit of shopping. I wasn’t going to do a haul, but after sharing a picture of it all on Instagram and getting a good response, I thought why the hell not blog about it!
By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock
As I walked passed Space NK, I nipped in to have a browse not expecting to buy anything. When I walked past the By Terry stand, I thought I’d have a look at the Ombre Backstars that I’ve seen a million bloggers and YouTubers rave about. I wanted to see what made them so special for the ridiculous £29 price tag they come with. The first one I picked up was Misty Rock, and I swatched it on the back of my hand – it was love at first swatch! Knowing the price, I put it back down and told myself did I really want to spend that much on a cream eyeshadow? So I left.. empty handed.
We went off to my appointment, and I just kept looking at the swatch on my hand. I was showing mum, and she said why not treat yourself to it. So I obvs did! I went back on my way to the train station and boom, this baby was mine. No regrets given.
Misty Rock is an unusual colour, and I think that’s what really drew me in. It appears different colours in different light. I’d describe it as a champagne taupe with subtle pink, mauve and silver shimmer, depending on the light.
When we got back to St Pancras, we had some time to kill so I managed to drag my brother into MAC with me (sorry Will!). After buying the By Terry Ombre Backstar, I really shouldn’t have spent anymore money, but I did. The St Pancras store is so much nicer than the crappy one near me, so I sort of fell into the beautiful makeup and ended walking away with some products!
This was just a repurchase of my beloved favourite. Fix+ is a staple for me so when I ran out I needed to replace it asap. I’m so glad to have it back in my life! Fix+ I missed you.
MAC 217 Blending Brush
Last week I shared my must-have eye brushes, and featured the 217. I’ve had my original 217 for years, and I use it almost daily. Only owning one made it a pain because I kept having to clean it when I was swapping colours, so I decided to (finally!) pick up a second one. If you’ve ever considered buying the 217, do it! It’s my number-one-holy-grail-must-have eye brush.
MAC Stripdown & Spice Lip Liners
MAC Lip Liners are such a beautiful thing. I already have a few in my collection, and decided it was time to add some more! I stuck with more nude/browns because I already own a few bright coloured ones. As much as I love bright lips, you can’t go wrong with a simple nude lip. I picked up Stripdown, a browny beige, and Spice, a more pinky cinnamon brown.
So that’s everything I picked up. I would like to take a second to apologise to my bank balance. Sorry bank balance.
Hope you’re all having a lovely day!
