L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte Foundation Review

It’s been a while since I’ve tried and fallen in love with a drugstore foundation. I sort of gave up trying them and ended up sticking with the high end ones I know and get on with, like the Estee Lauder Double Wear or YSL Touche Eclat Foundation. As much as I liked them both, they’re not exactly the most purse friendly – every time I had to repurchase them I felt like I was handing over my life savings!

When I saw the L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte Foundation something really drew me in… the price, the packaging, the fact it contains 35ml, the fact it’s matte, all the boxes were ticked so I caved in and bought it – typical Samm! I’ve been using this foundation for just over a month so I feel it’s time to review it.

This foundation has super impressed me. I really wasn’t expecting much, but I can honestly say this has become one of my favourite foundations! I find this foundation applies so beautifully, and gives coverage without looking like you’ve plastered your face with product. It gives an almost blurred effect to my pores and any problem areas.

I have combination skin so I do like to go for a matte foundation, although I have to be cautious with them as I find they can stick to and emphasise dry patches. Luckily that isn’t an issue with this foundation, although it’s matte it’s not drying and feels comfortable to wear. Despite being full coverage, it feels weightless on my skin. The formula isn’t too thick nor too runny, and you have enough time to work it into the skin before it dries.

I’m NW15/NW20 in MAC, and I use this in 12 Natural Rose which is a great match. I use either the Sigma F80 or my Beauty Blender to apply it, depending on the coverage I want. I find the beauty blender works best, but gives slightly less coverage than a brush which can be sorted by layering the foundation – don’t worry, this foundation builds well without caking. I set it with my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish, and the pair work well together.

Now I can’t confirm whether it lasts for the claimed 24 hours, I’d never have my foundation on for that long! The most I’ve worn this for is about 14 hours, which after that amount of time it wasn’t looking as nice as it once did (as expected- still lasted longer than foundations i’ve tried that cost 6x the price!). I had very slight oil on my t-zone but nothing that needed blotting, I still could have got away with wearing it out. With my combination skin I usually find I have to powder/blot my t-zone after about 6 hours with other foundations, but with this one I don’t have to at all. I’m so impressed!

This foundation comes in a tube, which I actually prefer to a bottle. Compared to a bottle and pump, you’re able to squeeze all of the product out so you’re not wasting any, as well as having control over how much you want to dispense. Another great bonus is that it’s not going to smash like a glass bottle could, so it’s great for on the go or travelling.

If you have oily or combination skin, I really recommend giving this a try! At £7.99 it’s purse friendly, and for me worth every penny! They also have a matching primer that I’m going to pick up and give a try too!
