The sound of my alarm going of at 4am this morning really was rather torturous. But with the help of coffee and knowing I was going to buy makeup, I somehow managed to be up and ready in time. But can I just say… lighting to do your in makeup at 4:30 in the morning is practically non existent. I had to rely on my iMac to help light my room up, but when you’re half asleep, without your glasses, and poor lighting- lets just say I wasn’t looking my best!
After four train journeys, I finally arrived at Kensington Olympia. I haven’t been to the IMATS since 2013, so it was great to be back. I was one of the first people let in, so luckily I could get to the brands I knew would get busy first. The stands got busy really quick, especially Make Up For Ever- where I queued for an hour just to get served! But it was worth it for the money I saved.
The variety of brands was good, I knew most of them so I had a good browse and picked up lots of new bits. One of the best things about the IMATS is the discounts brands have. You do save a lot of money, and even though you have to pay for tickets (£45ish), it’s a great day out and interesting to see makeup artists creating beautiful looks in live demos, as well as access brands that aren’t easily availible in the UK.
I stayed about 4/5 hours, and after that long being on my feet I was ready to head home. I’d brought everything I wanted (and more!), so me and mum headed for a Pizza Express next door, then home. Overall it was a great day, it was lovely to spend time surrounded by makeup and fellow makeup addicts. I’ll definitely be going back next year!
I actually forgot about taking pictures for my blog as I got so carried away with shopping, so before I left it was sort of a dash round to get photos! I didn’t want to take my DSLR with me, so I just took them on my iPhone 6, explaining why they’re not the best. My IMATS haul is going to be uploaded just after this post, I’ve got all the photos uploaded and I just need to type up the post!
