For me YSL is hands down the best luxury cosmetics brand – I just can’t resist that beautifully elegant gold packaging! I remember years ago my mum telling me about the Touche Éclat, which she’d read being raved about by celebs in a magazine. We both headed and purchased it, and my addiction to YSL began from then.
Overtime I’ve tried a variety of different products from them, but the lipsticks will always be my favourite and hold a very special place in my heart. They’re not exactly the cheapest (£26 each), so understandably I don’t have the craziest collection, but I still love them dearly. I have a variety of different finishes of YSL lipsticks, so today I wanted to share my Rouge Volute and Rouge Volute Shine collection.
Rouge Volupte 29 / Rose Opera (review)
This beautiful light-medium rose pink was actually my first ever YSL lipstick. It’s super opaque and glides on like a dream. It’s the perfect “me” coloured lipstick, and it’s a perfect Spring/Summer shade.
Rouge Volupte Shine 19 / Fuchsia In Rage
The Rouge Volupte Shine finish is more sheer and have more shine, the colour is also more buildable. When I first saw this colour in the bullet I was a bit worried. Don’t get me wrong, I love purple lipstick -but to own such an expensive one that wouldn’t get as much love as it deserved worried me. But once applied the colour it’s more of a plumish magenta pink. I’ve found myself wearing this a lot the past couple of weeks paired with the MAC Magenta Lip Liner.
Rouge Volupte 1 / Nude Beige
This shade is a perfect pinky-beige nude. It’s great for everyday wear and on my skin looks nude, without having that horrible concealer lip look. It’s opaque and goes on so smooth, making this easily one of my favourite nudes.
Another thing I love about these lipsticks is that I know however dry my lips may be, they will still go on smooth with out clinging to dry patches. My lips also feel moisturised whilst wearing these. The formula is light on the lips. Rose Opera and Fuchsia in Rage also leave a stain on my lips, which I like as it’s makes it less obvious when they begin to fade. If I was to pick a fault, it would be the lasting power. I get about 3 hours wear, but they are creamy lipsticks so you can’t expect them to last all day on the lips. Wearing them with a lip liner will prolong the wear.
The Rouge Volupte’s have such a hype around them, and are very popular amongst beauty bloggers & gurus. I totally see why, I’m hooked and constantly want to add more to my collection!
