I had wanted a YSL lipstick for what felt like forever, who can resist that perfect gold packaging? Not me!
I finally picked one up a few months ago when I had a discount code. But as I didn’t know the colour, I put my faith in online swatches and ordered 29 Opera Rose.
I would describe the colour of Rose Opera to be a light-medium rose pink. It’s a unique pink, unlike any other I own. The only colour I have that’s remotely similar colour wise is the Revlon Lip Butter in ‘Sweet Tart’.
I’m in love with this lipstick. It literally applies like butter. Even during the winter months and when my lips are dry this still looks nice and it moisturises my lips as well as add colour. The colour pay off is opaque after just one stroke. You don’t need a lip gloss with this as they are very glossy, but not glossy enough to be sticky- nothing worse than your hair sticking to your lips!
The lasting power is the only downfall, if you’re looking for a long lasting lipstick this is not for you, it is incredibly creamy and lasts about 3 hours on me. It’s not bad compared to other lipsticks I’ve tried, but I kind of expected longer for the price tag.
Putting the lasting power aside I feel this is worth the price as it’s such a luxurious product, I really want to get more, I’m sure my YSL lipstick collection will soon be expanding.
